We saw everything from maps of restricted American airspace in Montana to colonial era maps of Africa. We came home with a 1944 map of France and an 1860(!) map of Illinois.
This is a fine bookstore with an eminently knowledgeable and courteous owner. It is a pity that it moved away from Chicago, but this shop alone is reason enough to make a day trip to Chesterton!

In my estimation, this is the finest antiquarian bookstore in the Midwest. There is really nothing that compares left in Chicago, since even Powell's in Hyde Park is a bit finnicky and weird. Many people mention John King in Detroit, but that place is poorly curated, disorderly, and has a shoddy, garage sale vibe. O'Gara and Wilson's is a much better experience.
People aren't kidding about the maps! Their map selection is better than the book selection (and their book selection is good)
O'Gara and Wilson's features an extensive selection of classical texts, religious and theological books, fine literature, and hard-to-find scholarly titles.
Come for the books, stay for the maps!
